Role Overview
As part of your responsibilities, you will be in charge of the day-to-day management of the Trust's IT systems. Your main priorities will include ensuring the security, reliability, and appropriate service levels of these systems. You will actively assess the school's existing systems and provide recommendations for development and project work to the IT Systems Manager and Director of IT. Additionally, you will play a key role in shaping the school's IT strategy by leveraging your technical expertise to oversee in-house development work and coordinate support from subject specialists as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting regular assessments of the Trust's systems and providing valuable recommendations to enhance them to the IT Systems Manager and Director of IT.
- Collaborating with the IT Services team and relevant stakeholders to accurately define and implement new systems or modifications to existing ones, aligning with the IT strategy.
- Taking the lead in developing the Trust's systems to ensure compliance with legal requirements and effectively meet operational demands.
- Executing service requests and systems development in accordance with established departmental policies and processes.
- Liaising with the service team to identify recurring service issues and implementing solutions through system enhancements or improvements.
- Strategically planning and executing systems changes and project work to meet the evolving needs of the Trust, encompassing various stages such as scoping, design, implementation, testing, and handover.
- Collaborating with external suppliers to evaluate, validate, and implement new systems, as well as enhance or rectify existing ones.
- Providing comprehensive training to the IT team regarding any system changes or developments that may impact their day-to-day responsibilities.
- Conducting annual audits of the Trust's systems, including cybersecurity audits, in collaboration with third-party auditors.
- Regularly reporting the status of the Trust's systems, ongoing development work, risks, issues, and potential opportunities to the IT Systems Manager, and when necessary, the Director of IT and Deputy Head.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working in a similar role based within a school or education setting.
- Strong experience developing, managing and supporting systems, services, networks, and infrastructure
- Experience Delivering IT services to a large user base (around 2000), including web filtering, data storage, email, networked printing, backups, and software packages.
- Experience managing network services like DHCP, DNS, and LDAP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
