Our client a prestigious independent school is looking to appoint a permanent and full-time Support Engineer to join an excellent IT team in an educational institution close to central London. The role offers fantastic benefits and a competitive salary of up to £40,000!
Role Overview
The successful candidate will need to be keen to work in an Educational environment and will receive a very competitive salary, a 12% pension contribution along with a host of other excellent benefits including well-being and fitness facilities. You will work with colleagues to assist in implementing our client’s Digital Strategy. The successful applicant will be an integral part of our client’s busy IT Service Desk.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of our client’s ICT resources
- Technical lead for the management and support of our client’s core infrastructure, services and data
- Maintain service levels and service KPIs by prioritising workload
- Work with suppliers and third parties when directed
- Maintain best practices across all systems
- Responsible for daily backups and testing
- Maintain IT System policies and procedures
- Maintain the IT Business Disaster Recovery plan
- Be a key member of the ICT Helpdesk to our client’s users
- Help ensure the ICT Helpdesk provides support and management of core infrastructure, services and data within defined SLAs
- Ensure our client is compliant with data security and GDPR
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
- Strong Experience working in an IT Support role within a school environment.
- ITIL Foundation
- Azure Fundamentals
- Networking exams such as CCNA or similar
- VMware VCP
- Microsoft MCSA or above
- Google Classroom Training
- Experience working within an IT helpdesk environment
- Experience or knowledge of the following technologies: Windows 10, Windows Server; Desktop, laptops, tablets and server hardware; VMware SpherevCenter; Microsoft Azure Active Directory and Exchange Online; Networking; Aruba Wired and Wireless; Virtual server backup technologies; Mobile device management; Classroom Audio & Visual equipment; Sophos Anti-virus technology; firewalls

- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Good time management skills
- Keen to work in an Educational environment
- A flexible and proactive approach to work
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Enthusiastic
- Comfortable working under pressure
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Good attention to detail
- Good interpersonal skills
Nice to have but not essential
- Broad experience in supporting an IT infrastructure within an educational environment
- Experience in domain migration to Azure
