Role Overview

As the IT Technician, your main purpose is to provide comprehensive and efficient IT support to the school and its stakeholders, aligning with the Trust's IT strategic plan. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving reported incidents, and ensuring timely resolutions within service level agreement targets. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of IT systems and infrastructure, supporting outstanding teaching, learning, administration, and leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive IT support to ensure high-quality service delivery and meet the IT requirements of the school and Trust.
  • Diagnose and resolve reported incidents within service level agreement targets, ensuring effective communication with users regarding the status of their support tickets.
  • Maintain smooth operation of IT systems and infrastructure, facilitating outstanding teaching, learning, administration, and leadership.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, third parties, and partner schools/clients, maintaining a professional identity for IT Support Services.
  • Assist with IT procurement, offering advice and reviewing technical specifications while adhering to best value principles.
  • Conduct routine system checks, maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal performance of hardware and software.
  • Manage inventory information, including asset and change management procedures, for accurate tracking and administration.
  • Collaborate with third-party contractors to resolve reported incidents and ensure satisfactory resolution of problems.
  • Support IT projects, including installations, configurations, and upgrades, and participate in relevant IT Service meetings and duties.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working in a similar IT role within a school environment. 
  • Relevant degree or qualifications. 
  • Experience in Capita SIMS or similar MIS databases, setting up and managing administrative systems, supporting Google Apps for Education, Chrome OS, and Chromebook devices, maintaining Windows 7, 8, and 10, overseeing Windows Server infrastructure services (AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP), and configuring VMWare or Hyper V.
  • Good working knowledge of identifying, locating and resolving user problems. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
