Role Overview
As the IT Support Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school's IT systems and providing first-class support to students, staff, and parents. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of technologies, including Microsoft Windows, Apple Macs/iPads, Office 365, Cloud applications, Classroom audiovisual equipment, Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi/switches, and FortiGate firewall.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the go-to person for managing user accounts and group policies using Active Directory
- Take charge of resolving password issues for students, staff, parents, and external partners.
- Ensure proper setup and configuration of PC/laptop equipment, including installing necessary software and drivers
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software problems, implementing corrective action procedures as needed
- Oversee the management of the ID/door access card system
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve both complex and routine IT issues
- Maintain and secure Windows servers through regular maintenance and security patching
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot mobile computing devices and operating systems
- Deliver one-on-one staff training on technology as needed
- Manage firewall policies and web filtering settings to ensure security and privacy
- Proactively manage endpoint computer security and conduct routine patching
- Routinely reimage computers to optimize performance and keep templates up-to-date
- Follow industry best practices to ensure the security and privacy of school systems
- Test and evaluate new software and hardware
- Deliver IT projects as directed by the Head of IT services
- Support telephone system and ensure good change management practice and documentation
- Troubleshoot and support Wi-Fi network and maintain records/logs of loan equipment, repairs, and maintenance schedules
- Install, set up, and manage network switches
- Manage and maintain Apple Mac computers and iPads
- Support and maintain classroom projectors, screens, and audio-visual equipment
- Provide technical support in moving and setting up audio-visual and IT equipment
- Work with external technology partners to deliver projects and resolve escalated issues.
- Keep IT documentation up-to-date.
- Manage assigned helpdesk tickets efficiently and communicate with users until resolution is achieved.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience working in IT support.
- Strong Active Directory and group policy knowledge.
- Strong Knowledge of school IT systems.
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to relay technical information to non-technical individuals.
