Role Overview
As the IT Infrastructure Manager, you'll lead the daily operations of our client's network, systems, and servers, overseeing desktop environments and managing a team of infrastructure professionals. Your role involves ensuring the performance and security of key systems, implementing upgrades, and maintaining network integrity. Your technical expertise in Windows servers, O365, and other essential technologies will be crucial in meeting our client's IT needs effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain all core applications, servers, and systems used by the client, including implementing reliable backup and restoration procedures and ensuring effective anti-virus protection across the desktop estate.
- Develop and implement systematic network monitoring using appropriate management software to ensure optimal network performance and reliability.
- Coordinate and manage regular patch management services and cycles to keep systems up-to-date and secure.
- Establish and enforce network security procedures and policies to safeguard the client's IT infrastructure.
- Research, plan, and execute system upgrades in alignment with industry standards, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Administer Windows Servers through various methods, including PowerShell and VBScript, managing user accounts and access privileges.
- Provide support, maintenance, and development for Windows server environments running Windows 2012 and above, with a focus on safely upgrading legacy servers.
- Lead and manage operational teams, including 1st/2nd line helpdesk, audiovisual, and network services personnel, to ensure efficient IT support services.
- Configure and support network account management interfaces with Cloud-based services, such as Office 365, ensuring seamless integration.
- Proactively monitor resource usage by core applications, servers, and systems, predicting resource shortages and taking preventative measures. Additionally, oversee backup procedures and network access controls to maintain system integrity and security.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working in a similar role. (Must be school or education-based)
- Excellent people management skills.
- Strong Knowledge of Windows 10, Windows Server 2012R2, 2016 & 2019, Active Directory, Group Policy, Desktop and server hardware, Anti-virus technologies, Microsoft 365 and desktop office suite, VMware Site Recovery Manager, VMware vSpherevCenter, Audio & Visual Equipment, interactive screens, whiteboards, and projectors and Networking – DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, switching firewall, wireless, WAN.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
