Head of IT

We are searching for an experienced and highly technical Head of IT to join a group of schools in London & Cambridge. The GreatFind team is looking for an individual with experience providing leadership, direction, and management to an IT team within the education sector. 

You will be required onsite in both London and Cambridge with travel paid for. The day's split is yet to be confirmed but will be worked around your location. This role offers an excellent salary of up to £60,000 plus great benefits!

Role Overview

As the Head of IT for our client, you'll be responsible for managing their IT resources and network. Your role includes providing technical guidance and support for IT issues, overseeing a team of three IT Technicians, and ensuring smooth IT operations across all schools. You'll also handle new software and hardware installations, comply with regulations, and stay updated with the latest technologies to support the schools effectively. 

Responsibilities:

• Managing the school’s IT resources and network.
• Provide expert technical guidance and assistance with IT incidents, problem tickets, and services, as well as technical escalation (3rd line) responsibilities for the schools.
• Acting as a focal point for IT support procedures and infrastructure development, ensuring effective IT provision across schools within the group.
• Provide guidance, appraisals, and professional development plans to a team of three IT Technicians.
• Manage IT incidents, problems, and changes efficiently using the Service Desk tool.
• Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and GDPR regulations.
• Identifying and mitigating risks relating to the IT service.
• Discuss and update Service Improvement Plans (SIPs) and provide advice and guidance on the use of IT systems to staff.
• Promoting innovation in IT and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies.
• Managing and implementing the installation of all new computer software and hardware.
• Liaising with external engineers and managing external contracts as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a senior/leadership IT position within a school or educational environment. 
• Proven track record in IT project management.
• Excellent technical skills and experience with Microsoft technology stack, PowerShell, Windows Server 2012 and above, Exchange online, Azure AD, and Intune. (Knowledge of Microsoft Schools Data Sync or Salamander is beneficial). 
• Demonstrated track record delivering major projects in the field of education.
• Strong experience of cloud, server, and infrastructure support.
• Strong team leadership/management experience. 
• Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
