Role Overview
As the Business Development Manager, your primary focus will be on new business development, client retention, and effective management of sales activities. You will work closely with our client's team, collaborating to prospect potential new clients, build relationships, and turn opportunities into increased business. Your ability to identify key decision makers, deliver compelling pitches, handle objections, and negotiate effectively will be critical. Furthermore, you will work closely with our client's technical staff and internal colleagues to meet customer needs and enhance existing relationships.
Responsibilities
- Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. Call potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
- Identify potential clients and the decision makers within the client organisation.
- Research and build relationships with new clients.
- Set up meetings between client decision makers.
- Deliver approaches and pitches that speak to the client's needs, concerns, and objectives.
- Handle objections by clarifying, emphasising agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
- Present an image that mirrors that of the client.
- Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
- Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
- Work with Customer Success Manager to review customer satisfaction RAG rating and take action when needed to maximise chances of renewals.
- Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company's CRM.
- Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met.
- Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
- Work with marketing staff to ensure that campaigns are effectively executed.
Experience Needed
- Strong and successful sales track record (3-5 years), ideally within the Education sector.
- Networking, persuasion, prospecting, public speaking, research, writing, and closing skills.
- Motivation for sales and prospecting.
- Sales planning and identification of customer needs.
